FROM THE HOOP : 3D Short

The story was inspired by the life of Earl Manigault, a basketball player who lost everything in drugs. Near the end of his life he dedicated his time to helping children of Harlem avoid the same fate. It was during this time that he started the “Walk Away From Drugs” tournament for kids. He died in 1998 from a heart failure.

The storyline in the actual film very non-linear and I think it is meant to be more of an abstract subjective interpretation of Manigault’s personal struggle with his inner-demons. It’s a beautiful little short though and the color and animation are really great for a student film. Impressive work

Modern Geometry: Cedarvale Residence

Taylor Smyth architects are known for creating cantilevered kitchen countertops… and this small gem doesn’t disappoint inside. This project was part of transforming, enlarging and modernizing a residential architecture on an established Toronto street. The design celebrates the juxtaposition between the original house and the contemporary construction by creating a bond between the two structures.

A Good Guess with Taste : The ‘Slip Watch’

The ‘Slip Watch’ from Nonlinear Studio is a fun timepiece that’s set on a 20-degree angle. The watch doesn’t mess with silly details like numbers and dates, so you’ll need to estimate the exact time.

The ‘Slip Watch’ from Nonlinear Studio is a clever take on the traditional square timepiece. Its simple rotation sets the watch apart from similar luxury watches, and is sure to catch eyes whether you’re at the boardroom or happy hour.

Images have just surfaced of the Air Jordan 1 2K High, an interesting new spin on the classic AJ1. Inspired by the colors of the teams included in the last year’s AJ1 60+ collection, the 2K High features a multi-colored upper covered by a heavy triangular stitching pattern and sporting a new Jumpman logo tab on the heel. The shoe will come packaged in a luxurious drawstring bag inside a special Jordan box.

Duffy London designs a chair that integrates shadow into its structure. At first glance it is a simple chair that seems to defy gravity by standing upright while only having two front legs, but on closer inspection the shadow is part of the chair and attached to a frame built inside the chair.
